Jasper is in east Texas approximately 120 miles northeast of Houston. Visitors will find a variety of attractions in the area.

Martin Dies, Jr. State Park is a great place for people who enjoy outdoor recreation. There are eight miles of hiking and biking trails. Water activities here include swimming, boating, paddling and fishing. Visitors can rent bikes, canoes and kayaks. The park has picnic areas and playgrounds.

Sandy Creek Park is another place for outdoor recreation. Visitors can play basketball, go fishing and hike along a walking trail here. The picnic tables and playgrounds here make it a great location for a family outing.

Golfers will enjoy the Rayburn Country Golf Course. The course has 18 holes. The clubhouse at the course is open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Art lovers can visit art galleries and see outdoor art sculptures in Jasper’s historic town square. The town square also has antique shops and a courthouse that was built in the late 19th century.

Fresh produce and crafts made by local artists are available at the Jasper County Farmers Market during the summer and fall.

People who want to spend more than one day exploring Jasper’s attractions can stay at the historic Swann Hotel Bed and Breakfast. It was built as a private home in 1901, and it has been a hotel since 1914. Every one of the hotel’s six rooms is decorated with antiques in an elegant Victorian style. Most of these rooms have private bathrooms. Guests who enjoy music can play the piano in the hotel’s parlor. Porches and balconies furnished with wicker rockers create a charming outdoor retreat.

The historic Swann Hotel Bed and Breakfast provides free coffee and Wi-Fi. Guests who are staying here for an extended period of time are allowed access to the hotel’s kitchen and laundry facilities.
