Welcome to the historic elegance and classic Southern hospitality of the Swann Hotel.

The historic 1901 Swann Hotel Bed and Breakfast is the Pineywoods Grand Victorian Bed & Breakfast. We are a short 2 hour scenic drive from George Bush Intercontinental (120.0 miles). Take 59 North to Livingston, take the exit to Hwy 190 to Woodville, and Stay on 190 until you reach Jasper. The Swann is only 10 minutes from Lake Sam Rayburn and Martin Dies State Park for golfing, fishing, canoeing, and other outdoor activities. There are numerous antique and specialty gift shops to explore. The Jasper Historical Museum, the late 1880’s Courthouse, and the Sandy Creek Recreational Park are short walks from the Swann. Dining options range from Texas BBQ to Country Buffets to Chinese, Italian, Mexican, and Catfish & Seafood. Come see all the wonders of the Jewel of the Forest and the Butterfly Capital of Texas.

History Facts about Jasper Texas
Settled in the mid 1820s, it was first known as Bevil’s Settlement (after John Bevil). In 1835 it joined a host of other southern states naming the county after William Jasper, of American Revolution fame. In 1844 the town of Jasper became the county seat.

A weekly newspaper, the Jasper News-boy, has been published continuously since 1865. The 1870 population declined from the 400 residents of 1858 to to 360. By the mid 1880s it had grown to 1,000. By the mid 1890s it reported 1,200 residents.

The arrival of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad made Jasper an important lumber exporter. The population grew from 1,500 in the mid 1920s to 6,500 in the late 1960s.

Jasper reached a new high during the 1990m census with 7,267 residents and over 200 businesses..By 2000 the population surpassed 8,000 with over 700 businesses.

We have 6 bedrooms furnished with period antiques.

The Swann offers the perfect venue for small group retreats and family reunions. Spiritual retreats, Scrap booking events, Business meetings can also be held at the Swann.

Missionaries on furlow and their families are welcome guests at the Swann Hotel. Extended affordable stays can be arranged.
